What is an Order of Supervision?
Prolong Your Stay in Dallas While Your Immigration Status Is Being Decided
After an immigrant is released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, they are given an Order of Supervision (OSUP). This order precedes a court hearing or final deportation order. Your case could take years to be decided, and this order allows immigrants to resume their normal life working and living freely within the country while they wait for the verdict, so long as they abide by set regulations and regularly meet with ICE representatives.
If you’ve been given an OSUP, contact Perdomo Dorsett Immigration Law. Our firm is experienced in handling deportation and immigration law matters, and can approach the case with the necessary sensitivity while maintaining firm, defensive representation on your behalf. What Do I Need to Do Under an Order of Supervision?
As an order of supervision effectively prolongs your stay in the United States, it’s important you follow the guidelines closely to retain the privilege while your case is being decided. Your order of supervision will outline a specific set of rules that you must remain complacent with depending on your case.
Common requirements still exist universally, requiring immigrants under an OSUP to:
- Report to an immigration officer every few months
- Make extra arrangements when travelling, including getting permission to leave the state
- Not leave the country
- Relay any changes in address, employment, or other personal information to an immigration officer
- In certain cases, wear a GPS bracelet
Beyond these procedures, the document may provide a list of additional prohibited behaviors, such as associating with gangs or failing to adhere to ICE protocols. Failure to adhere to these terms could transfer your case to the Detention and Removal Operations (DRO) program.
